very informative

As promised, this is a very brief history. I read a thick biography of Lenin many many years ago and have forgotten much of what I read then. This book refreshes my memory and clarifies a lot, not just about Lenin's life but about Russian and European history as well.

More than just a biography of Lenin

In addition to being a brief history of Lenin, this book covers the early history of the Russian revolution and the creation of the Soviet Union. It starts with the Tsars and continues to just after Lenin's death. So it's much more than a simple biography. I found it to be informative and interesting.
As with most of the books I've read in this series, this one could use a better proofreader. There are minor typos that detract from the reading. But since this isn't a rigorous scholarly work intended for publication in a journal, I'm not going to let that affect my rating.

The book provides a quick overview of the political life of Lenin,and it does its job well. It does not go into his private life at all though except the bare bones basics.
