About the Author
Susan M. Bacon (Ph. D. Ohio State University) is Professor Emerita of Spanish at the University of Cincinnati and former Director of UC International Programs where she promoted and supervised all education abroad for the University. In the Department of Romance Languages she served at various times as Director of the Basic Spanish Program, Undergraduate Director, Graduate Director, and Assistant Department Head. In addition to her administrative duties, she taught Spanish language and culture, teaching methodology, and second-language acquisition. Her research interests include child and adult second-language acquisition, and the processing of authentic input. She is recipient of the prestigious Paul Pimsleur Award for Research in Education. She was Project Director for a four-year grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in Mexico, and a Fulbright-Robles Scholar in Mexico. She is primary researcher for a considerable number of empirical studies, and has co-authored several elementary and intermediate-level Spanish texts including UPSILONArriba!, Conexiones, and Leyendas del mundo hispano, all published by Pearson-Prentice Hall. Her research for her books has led her to visit 20 Spanish-speaking countries, some several times. Aitor Bikandi-Mejias has taught at college level in the U.S., in Spain-Pais Vasco and in Madrid. He is currently Professor of Spanish at Saint Louis University, Madrid Campus. He teaches Spanish Language, Spanish Culture and Civilization, and Spanish Literature and Cinema. His research interests include Teaching of Spanish language, Spanish Cinema and Literature, and Cultural Studies, fields in which he has authored several articles and books. He has also co-authored elementary and intermediate-level Spanish texts. Gregg O. Courtad is currently head of the Spanish program at the University of Mount Union, where he has been instrumental in redesigning the curriculum. In addition to being one of the co-authors of all four editions of Leyendas del mundo hispano, he has also conducted or co-directed workshops for high school teachers of Spanish, as well as given numerous presentations related to pedagogy and literature in such diverse countries as the Bahamas, Brazil, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. He has been a visiting professor for American students at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica and serves as co-president of the Ohio chapter of the non-profit organization, Amigos de las Americas. Presently, he is a frequent traveler to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he maintains a second home.

In a small book replete with exercises and questions, case studies and anecdotes, Brenda Bence just may steal my customers. As a coach for small businesses, I am always looking for materials and new approaches to use with my clients. In Smarter Branding Without Breaking the Bank: Five Proven Marketing Strategies You Can Use Right Now to Build Your Business at Little or No Cost, Bence not only offers new materials, she does my job for me. I tried the exercises myself as I read, thinking that I could gauge their effectiveness and polish up my own brand a little. I came away with a much better understanding of my own brand, and how to publish it to others. I will use the approach in the book with my clients. (I may even tell them about the book!)

Comyns has fashioned this macabre material into a strangely involving modern Gothic romance. (It's a bit strong for Holt and Whitney fans.) The protagonist, Bella Winter, is a beautiful but physically and mentally scarred young woman who marries a wealthy, rather cold widower. He is obsessed by the memory of his first wife, overly attentive to their small son, and neglectful of Bella. As their marriage deteriorates, she experiences a mental breakdown, and blames herself for his son's accidental death. If you've been fortunate enough to read The Vet's Daughter or The Skin Chairs-two of this marvelous writer's best books-or even if you've never heard of either book, do yourself a favor and get ahold of this hard-to-find, out-of-print gem. The story is enthralling, the writing limpidly beautiful. While I was reading it, I re-experienced the pleasure of total absorption I felt in childhood when immersed in a favorite book.

It's a shame that most of Comyns is out of print (at least here in the US). Her novels are strange, haunting, quirky, beautiful and worth every effort to track down in used bookstores or online. The Juniper Tree is no exception. Please, readers, find these books!

A fantastic book, a book I'd be proud to be in

In my mind, one of the differences between a good book and a bad one is whether I'd be proud to be a part of it.
I would NOT be interested in having my picture show up in Play? or some of the other magazines that are popular today among the non-nudists who simply want to see the pictures.
But I would be proud if my picture showed up in Lee Baxandall's great books. I met Lee in Michigan at one of the Naturist Society's conventions, and yes, my picture did show up in one of the books about five years ago.
Lee's books give plenty of interesting reading, and show what naturism is like around the world. I highly recommend his books, and I suggest that you visit one of the sites listed sometime.

only one problem the book will very good but from photo you would think it was a older book but it was the same book that i also ordered so i have two of the same book, its ok still good book, even tho the state, and fed laws making it unlawful to skinnydipping, which is a right granted by the us bill of rights, and has been around since the find of first settler of the new world,nude beaches have been lawful since new world, changed because new goverment lawmakers, anyway book is great, but mite try better pics of books can be miss leading, and better yet make it lawful, HINT HINT, LOL
